I believe me and other Ethical Breeders follow a similar curriculum and have a very similar goal in mind. What makes us different is our story and why we started breeding. So you can always count on us being 100% open and honest with our families.
Yes each parent is genetic tested through Embark or Animal Genetics and OFA tested through Chic standards.
It’s all preference. While male dogs are more playful and friendly, some males do like to mark. Whereas females are more calm and reserved.
No they are not Doodles. Poodles come in a variety of colors and patterns. Phantom is one pattern along with Partis and Abstracts.
A lot of people do what’s called a clean face and clean feet on poodles. Many people prefer a teddy bear face on a poodle as well. Keep in mind it’s just a haircut.
Here at Poodles Are Mixy we start the crate training process as part of their development. It is very important that you continue to crate train for a numerous of reasons. You are creating a SAFE place for your puppy to be in especially throughout the night when you are sleep and not supervising them. They will be used to the crate by the time they start going to the groomers. Also if there is an emergency and your puppy/dog has to be crated it won’t be a stressful time for them.
You should always crate them at night when it’s bed time. And if you are leaving your home. It’s very important that you start this early and eventually you can start to leave the crate open.
They are introduced to pad training. Keep in mind they are just babies and still learning. They are in a new environment that they don’t know just be consistent and make sure the pad is close to them after they eat and especially after they wake up.
Consistency is key! We start exposing grooming to them young. Being consistent once you take them home is very important. Start with weekly baths touching their face and paw pads also rubbing the back of clippers around them will also desensitize them.
No that is not true. Dogs are carnivores, which means they were made to eat meat. It is actually better for them to eat meat vs processed kibble.
It is all preference and lifestyle. Feeding Raw has a number of benefits but it is a huge commitment. If you prefer to feed kibble, it is important that you choose a kibble that is minimally processed and has raw ingredients also using toppers to ensure your dog is getting the best diet possible.
All of my puppies that are being sold as “pet only” will go home with a spay and neuter contract. I will do my part in the community to make sure I am not contributing to the over population of animals in the shelter.
Speak with your vet because each vet is different. I like my females to go through at least 1 heat cycle before being fixed.
If there are any intact males you will need to keep them separated until her heat is done. (Could take up to 4 weeks) just to ensure the safety of each pet in the home. Keep a close eye on her especially in her fertile window as she is most likely to escape to look for a mate.
No dogs heats differ from a human’s cycle. Dogs do not get cramps or feel sad.
